We need a little Christmas!

We stuffed ourselves into a food coma at the big family Thanksgiving dinner and woke up to find that Christmas is coming up fast. Actually, the Christmas season apparently began back in October and only just kicked it into high gear on Thanksgiving Day.
I went into our friendly neighborhood Walmart a few days after Halloween and right next to the aisle with the big Halloween candy banner was a Christmas tree.
Being the rebel that I am, however, I've waited until just this week to begin my Christmas shopping (OK, I'm not a rebel; I'm just procrastinating, again).
But it's hard choosing just the right gifts, keeping the number/value of gifts exactly equal per child, and sticking to the non-existent Christmas budget and I always have a mini anxiety attack after each Christmas purchase.
I am getting a little more into the Christmas spirit since the tree is up and almost decorated.
Sam took it upon himself to go out and buy a new, pre-lit tree this year. He's been complaining about the old tree for a few years now. It is kind of a pain to drag it up from the basement, sort all the branches and put it together, but it was always fun to watch Sam and the girls figure it out. And I've never really figured out how the Christmas lights, put away so neatly after Christmas, manage to get themselves into a tangled mess by the next year.
Here's another thing that put me into the Christmas mood: Portable North Pole. At the PNP, you can create a free, personalized video message from the Chief Elf. It was fun to put together and the look on Brookie's face as she watched it was priceless.
